Dr. Castro holds a DVM (Central University of Ecuador). He completed a Large Animal Internship (University of Tennessee), obtained his EFCVG certification, and completed an Equine Surgery Residency (University of Tennessee and Woodford Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY). Dr. Castro is currently studying Equine Acupuncture through the Chi-Institute. His professional interests include lameness, orthopedics (arthroscopy and fracture repair), regenerative medicine, abdominal surgery, upper respiratory surgery, reproductive surgeries, and sports medicine and rehabilitation of horses. Dr. Castro provides CE seminars on topics including evaluation of conformation, wound management, lameness, sports medicine, and rehabilitation.
